Nokia’s new smartphone, the N96, may be an upgrade to the N95 rather than a whole new range, but it will still play a vital role in the fight to dominate high end handset sales in the holiday season. So O2 UK’s decision not to carry the product, in a market where the N95 was very successful, does not bode well for Nokia’s attempt to stay at the forefront of the European smartphone sector, amid growing competition and the threat of consumer spending slowdown. Nokia’s N97 with it’s keypad will be a big help if the touchscreens aren’t all that compared to the iPhone.

Nokia mobile phones boast highly calibrated cameras with higher mega pixels and deliver excellent digital like photos. These handsets even play the role of palmtops as the user can effectively access the Internet and can easily send heavily loaded files through emails. Nokia-Siemens are saying that with a simple software upgrade, that would give an increase in battery life, to users’ phones, of up to 50%. Nokia is one of the leading players in this arena. Its handsets are valued by the users due to the innovative features they support.
